Tips to Avoid Repairs

-
Remember that dentures are not your natural teeth. Although strong, acrylic teeth are not as strong as the enamel on your natural teeth.
-
Be mindful of where you are storing your dentures. Keep them in the provided case when they are not being worn.
-
Pets have a tendency to want to chew on dentures because they can smell the food residue from your previous meals.
-
When cleaning your dentures, lay a hand towel in the bottom of the sink or fill the sink part-way with water. This provides a soft landing surface in case they slip out of your hands.
-
Be careful about how you handle your dentures while inserting and removing them. Dropping them onto the floor or a hard surface can crack the denture base or teeth.
-
Loose dentures tend to move around and may spill out of the mouth. If your denture feels loose, contact your Denturist to discuss options.
-
Over time, denture teeth will wear down with use. This can alter the bite and cause certain teeth to endure more pressure than others, putting them at risk of chipping or breaking.
-
Chewing on hard foods, such as cherry pits or ice chips can case the denture teeth to chip.
-
Using your dentures for reasons other than normal function, for example prying caps off of bottles, can cause breaks in the denture base or teeth.
