Denture Adhesive

-
If needed, denture adhesive such as Polygrip or Fixodent is a good solution to increase retention and help your denture stay in place.
-
Denture adhesive comes in various forms, including cream, strips, and powder. It is a personal choice as to which one works for you.
-
Dentures can feel loose for many reasons. The shape of the jaw bone, healing from oral surgery or extractions, and changes that come with age are all factors.
-
Warm liquids and meals such as hot coffee, tea, or soup may lessen the effectiveness of the adhesive and it may need to be reapplied after having these foods and drinks.
-
When cleaning your dentures after using adhesive, warm to hot water will help dissolve the stickiness for an easier cleanup. You may have to clean residue off of the tissues in your mouth as well, swishing with warm to hot water can make it easier to remove. Please make sure the water is not hot enough to burn the inside of your mouth.

If you find yourself needing more and more adhesive regularly, you may be due for a reline. Contact your Denturist to explore options that can help.
